Tropical Storm Irene left flooding and devastation in many areas of Vermont. Those hardest hit by the storm have endured the loss of hay, grain, pastures, homes and even their barns. Their animals are now without food supplies or shelter. NEDA would like to assist them in this time of need and bring to your attention two flood relief efforts taking place at the Fall Festival of Dressage, September 13-18, 2011, HITs on the Hudson, Saugerties, NY.

GMHA poster
The Green Mountain Horse Association grounds were affected by the storm. They suffered from extreme flooding and destruction of their barns and grounds. Plans to rebuild and repair the grounds, rings and barns are underway. Lisa Curry Mair, a painter and dressage rider who lives nearby, has created an original and charming work of art depicting the GMHA. The poster is available for $40 with all proceeds to benefit the GMHA recovery efforts. Please look for her on the show grounds.

Donate hay
We would also like you to consider donating one bale of hay to those in need. Claudia Tarlov, a longtime NEDA member and volunteer, has offered to collect the hay donations and drive them to a central distribution point in Vermont. The hay will be distributed to the farms in greatest need. Space will be available for this effort on the NEDA show grounds. Please consider bringing one extra bale of hay with you to donate for this worthy cause.

Please join us in supporting Lisa and Claudia and their relief efforts.

We hope to see you at the show!
